It is a gift to have someone listen to you, understand who you are, and genuinely care about you.
The enemy’s presence is sinister and suffocating. But Jesus’ presence promises eternal fullness – abundance.
The practice of lament allows us to bring difficult thoughts and feelings, as well as our waiting or heartaches, to God and trust him for healing.
What do we do when our carefully laid plans collide with God’s plans? What do we do when we cannot control our circumstances? Do we strive for more control? Do we despair and want to give up? This passage from Scripture which I memorized as a child has come back to me time and time again this year and has been a corrective to my soul…
Peace, rest, hope, and comfort without Jesus are nothing. Jesus is returning. He is the one you go to. Lay all your burdens on him.
Our thankfulness must be rooted in the hope Jesus won for us at the cross, not in the status of our current circumstances. When we form our gratitude around the shape of eternity rather than the hardships and heartaches of today, we will see our thankfulness multiplied.
Last week the Fieldstone team had the opportunity to join with hundreds of other counselors and ministry leaders in Greensboro, North Carolina for the annual CCEF conference. Fieldstone’s Executive Director, Jonathan Holmes, currently serves on the CCEF Board of Directors, and was featured as one the speakers at the conference.
