The Center for Shepherd Care

The Center for Shepherd Care is a focused outreach of Fieldstone Counseling that seeks to be a pastor to pastors, ministry leaders, and their families. We believe there is a direct connection between the well-being of those who are leading in ministry and the well-being of those they are leading. Therefore, we want to see God’s shepherds cared for, healed, better equipped, and encouraged—so that “their work will be a joy, not a burden” (Heb. 13:17) and the kingdom of God flourishes.

Parenting Through the Storms

January 12–March 9, 2021

The purpose of Parenting Through the Storms is to:

  1. Provide a safe space for parents/guardians to share, lament and process struggles with their child(ren) with counseling-related concerns such as anxiety, depression, autism or trauma. Children do not need to have a diagnosis for parents/guardians to register for this group.

  2. Share biblical anchors for which to process related difficulties through the weekly meeting and throughout the week.

  3. Present resources to parents according to each weekly theme and additional resources in regards to more specific issues.

Counseling Supervision Group

January 14–March 25, 2021

Looking to grow in your ability to walk with others through the hardships of life? Do you desire to grow in compassion, speak lasting hope, connect someone’s life to the gospel, lovingly reconcile sinners, and help guide someone into the joy of following Christ? Are you looking for help to think biblically and Christ-centered about the hardships of others?

The Counseling Supervision Group with Fieldstone Counseling provides a time for you to gather with other people helpers. This group is for all types of people helpers: from pastors to counselors to ministry leaders, whether vocational or lay. We will support each other in our care and counsel of others. Since helping others is as much about God working in our own hearts, we’ll also encourage each other in our own walk with the Lord.

Suffering Shepherds Cohort

February 1–May 17, 2021

A safe place for pastors to gather for mutual support through guided conversation, encouragement and refreshment from the Scriptures.

We know how difficult it is for pastors to be able to share their struggles and sorrows as they live out their unique calling. Questions arise: Who can I trust to reveal my sense of failure or frustration or family problems? Who cares for the care giver? There is the nagging sense of isolation and loneliness bereft of encouragement or support.

With such a stark reality we want to offer a safe place for pastors to gather for mutual support through guided conversation, encouragement and refreshment from the Scriptures, fortifying prayer and counsel. We seek to bind up brokenness and offer hope to wounded and weary shepherds.

Shepherd Life Cohort

February 3–September 1, 2021

The purpose of the Shepherd Life Cohort (SLC) is to provide an interactive small group experience for Christian pastors and ministry leaders who want a safe place to:

  1.  Discuss challenging areas of ministry, and

  2. Determine practical “next steps” tailored to their lives and particular situations in ministry.

Through assigned pre-reading and reflection thoughts/questions, monthly group discussions, and individual time with the cohort director, participants will hopefully grow in their personal and ministry lives, their relationships with fellow “shepherds,” and most importantly, in their relationship with the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ.

This cohort is for ministry leaders (pastors, church/ministry staffs and boards, missionaries, etc.) who have either previously participated in the Shepherd Life seminar, or who have a desire to grow in their personal and ministry leadership.
