Weekend Word is a regular rhythm on the Fieldstone Counseling social media accounts. Each Friday, we share an abbreviated post from one of our counselors centered around a passage of scripture and offering brief reflective thoughts. These posts will now be added to our Resources page here on the website for additional reading preferences. We hope they might become a refreshing shift for you as you enter into the weekend!

“And where are all his wonders that our father told us about?” (v. 13)

These are common questions for God when we don’t see a way forward or when our faith feels weak. We struggle to make sense of decisions that seem at odds, or how to discern the next step when a situation appears impossible. We start to believe that God is holding out on us, and we may begin to feel alone in the midst of our troubles. We cry out in frustration, perhaps doubting that God is true to his word.

God does not rush to immediately silence our apprehensions or questions with the promise of deliverance. No, first he offers us his presence, reminding us that he will be with us. He extends his presence before he grants us power to face whatever lies in front of us.

He reassures us:
“I will be with you.”
“Peace to you.”

When questions begin to multiply within us, and we feel helpless to resolve matters, it is here where we can encounter peace by conversing with him. As we bring our questions into the light of God’s presence, we discover a power that calms our anxious souls and sustains us for the unfolding providence ahead. How might you enter into his presence today?
